Empty your gutters and check downspouts. Check your outdoor faucets, Gas BBQ line and outdoor lighting for any winter damage. Fix any cracks that have appeared in foundation, walkways and patios.
Examine your roof and repair any roof, shingle or chimney damage from those cold and blustery winter days.
Fertilize, rake and aerate your lawn. Move any wood piles (or leaves you didn’t rake before the first snow) away from the house to deter insects. Leave the garden bed clean up until late spring, pollinators have made homes and aren’t ready to be evicted yet. Enjoy the spring bulbs that should be appearing!
While you’re eager to get outside, spring is the perfect time to replace your furnace filter. This should be done at least twice a year. Consider air duct cleaning, especially if you have a pet or your house is over 15 years old.
Test your Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms every month and change the batteries every six months to keep your family safe.
Declutter and reorganize with a home edit. Time to store away the bulky and cozy throws and treat yourself and your home to some spring flowers. On those beautiful spring days, open the windows and let in the fresh air.
